War and Peace: Epilogue 2 is well worth checking out in these crazy days.
The narrator reflects on power, the collective will of the people transferred to one ruler, as the motor that drives history forward, but rejects it as a ludicrously simplistic and jejune affectation of insight into our tangled trajectory.
Goodbye baby and amen: Putin, Zelenskyy, Biden ........ Johnson etc. etc.
