Blink and you'll miss it

AncestryDNA have done their annual Ethnicity Estimate update. I am now 97% Ireland, 2% Scotland, and 1% Sardinia. Last year I was 98% Irish, 2% Scottish, and <1% Sardinian. 

The broad and relentless march of science, eh?

Scot-free no more

 AncestryDNA have done another of their regular revisions of my sample. I am now 98% Irish, 2% Scottish, and <1% Sardinian. I have been 2% Scottish before as I remember.

I will put a label DNA on this post, then gradually retrospectively apply it to earlier ones to help me get a better handle on the trends and changes. I seem to remember that initially I was only 79% Irish for example.

1% Sardinian

An evening at the wonderfully eclectic and invigorating Tooting Market last night. When Donna turned up she told me that Ancestry DNA have revised their ethnicity estimates again. Hmmmmm. Last time (passim) I went to 100% Irish up from 98. This time I have dropped down to 99% Irish and 1% .... Sardinian! Who saw that one coming? Oh really? No, O'Reilly

I got a message from Rebecca yesterday morning telling me that Ancestry have revised their ethnicity estimates as they do regularly. I have looked at my updated profile and I am now 100% Irish up from 98. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/dna/origins/share/2291dec9-b75e-427d-bf76-0da2e1479c99

I think that I should be able to drink in the Standard free for ever.

Ireland sober is Ireland stiff.

I got my DNA test result on my birthday back in 2018 (Icons passim).

I got an email yesterday:

I am now 98% Irish, 2% Scottish and 0% the rest of the world. Two years ago I was 79% Ireland/Scotland/Wales with assorted other ingredients including 2% European Jewish. I fully expect to be more than 100% Irish the next time they run the rule over my chromosomes.

The planets must be in alignment, because my DNA analysis results have turned up on my very birthday itself, now there's a thing.

In essence I am Flann O’Brien. I long suspected as much. At least I no longer need to have any excuse for me brass necked refusal to support England in any sporting contest whatsoever your honour be it pleasing to yeh and so forth, yeh gobshite.
