UK Slips Behind India to Become World’s Sixth Biggest Economy
- Loss of status comes as ruling Tory party elects new premier
- Cost of living shock batters UK, while Indian economy surges
The Indian economy is forecast to be a fifth larger than the UK by 2027[Liz Truss] will take over a nation facing the fastest inflation in four decades and rising risks of a recession that the Bank of England says may last well into 2024.By contrast, the Indian economy is forecast to grow more than 7% this year. A world-beating rebound in Indian stocks this quarter has just seen their weighting rise to the second spot in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, trailing only China’s.
I've nothing against the good people of India you understand. More power to the collective Indian elbow, as far as I am concerned. It's just that when Boris Johnson was making speeches about leveling up, I kinda, sorta assumed he was talking about places like Bradford and Doncaster rather than, say, Mumbai and Bangalore.
Let's be honest; the man could ruin a debutante and leave her on the street, a homeless crack whore, all the while claiming he was contributing to social mobility.
Over to you Ms Truss ...... Had we but world enough and time .........
