I watched episode 2 of The Capture with Paapa yesterday, and noticed that Indira Varma, who was the best thing in The Seagull when we saw it recently, was in it.
Good stuff, but not a busman's holiday if you know your protocol stacks. When our heroes identified the spoof Newsnight footage as being from a Chinese IP address, I raised a quizzical eyebrow, surely anyone half competent would have geo-spoofed it with a VPN?
As ever, the shade of the old man intervened. He was a forensic consulting engineer and a small thing I admired about him was his ability to enjoy movies set in his world without nit-picking.
Exhibit A: My Cousin Vinny:
.... just the type of thing he would have said as an "expert witness" though with a different accent and softer intonation.
He also had good things to say about Erin Brockovich, which I thought was gracious. If you want to write an essay, write an essay. If you want to write a screenplay, write a screenplay.
