I'm amazed to see that I haven't inaugurated a new Welsh Born Icon since John Hughes got the nod last October.
Let's address that deficiency at once.
Richard Marquand (22 September 1938 – 4 September 1987) is hereby elected to the pantheon; best known for directing the blockbuster Star Wars film Return of the Jedi, he was born in Llanishen, Cardiff.
