online book, featuring former Bullseye presenter and comic Jim Bowen presenting them to a modern audience.
Some jokes are likely to baffle modern audiences, however - especially the ones about lettuce, which only make sense if you share the ancient superstition that the vegetable is an aphrodisiac.

Lettuce: Cool, crunchy, some of it peppery, malleable to the tongue, and pulled from the earth it's roots probably with easy access to the depths of hell. Whats not sexy about that?
