I finished off Dave Eggers' The Circle when I woke up this morning, though I fell back to sleep afterwards. It is a dystopian novel for the age of Google and Facebook, and worth a read for all it is a little heavy handed for my taste. The symbolism of the transparent, omnivorous shark; Enough already.
I have been reading Dave Eggers since 2000, when a came across an extract from A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius in a newspaper I picked up in a bijou hotel where we weekended in Boston on the way back from skiing in New England. So now you know.
